<p style="margin-bottom:15px;">The Faculty of the College of Nursing develop admission criteria to be utilized in screening selected applicants.</p><br />
<p style="margin-bottom:15px;">Admission Requirements:</p><br />
<ol><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">To be admitted into the nursing program/major, a student must:<br />
<ol style="list-style-type: lower-alpha;"><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px; margin-top:15px;">Submit the following information:<br />
<ul><br />
<li>completed application form</li><br />
<li>official transcripts of all university/college course work</li><br />
<li>two letters of recommendation</li><br />
<li>campus preference</li><br />
<li>disclosure statement</li><br />

<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">Complete the following prerequisite college courses at any time prior to beginning Semester 1 nursing courses:<br />

<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">To be admitted into the Accelerated Nursing Program/major in addition to the requirements listed in requirement 1 and 2, the student must:<br />
<ol style="list-style-type: lower-alpha;"><br />
<li>Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university/college. International students must have their course work evaluated and have the equivalency of a baccalaureate degree prior to matriculation.</li><br />
</ol><br />
</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">To be admitted into the RN-BSN Nursing Program/major, in addition to the requirements listed in items 1 and 2, the student must:<br />
<ol style="list-style-type: lower-alpha;"><br />
<li>Document current RN licensure allowing practice in the state where clinicals will be conducted.</li><br />
<li>Complete and file an official course projection with the Student Services office.</li><br />
</ol></li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">To be admitted into the nursing programs, the following criteria must also be met:<br />
<ol style="list-style-type: lower-alpha;"><br />
<li>Have college prerequisite/co-requisite grade point average of 2.5 or higher.</li><br />
<li>Have a minimum 2.0 ("C") (or satisfactory AP, CLEP, Dantes, P/NP) in prerequisite courses. A maximum of 12 credit hours can be non-graded (e.g.: AP, CLEP, Dantes, P/NP).</li><br />
<li>Complete a preadmission interview if requested.</li><br />
<li>Submit Appraisal Form, if applicable, from any previously attended nursing program.</li><br />
</ol><br />
</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">Acceptance into the nursing program is a competitive and selective process. Priority admittance into the nursing program is given based on the following criteria:<br />
<ul><br />
<li>Student’s prioritized campus preference(s).</li><br />
<li>Prerequisite grade point average of 3.0 or above. </li><br />
<li>Two satisfactory recommendations.</li><br />
<li>Greater number of prerequisite courses completed.<br />
<ul><br />
<li style="list-style-type:circle;">Students with a prerequisite grade point average between 2.5 and 3.0 may be admitted if space is available. </li><br />
</ul><br />
</li><br />
</ul><br />
</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">Final acceptance is dependent upon the successful completion of all admission requirements and prerequisite courses and upon receipt of the following:<br />
<ol style="list-style-type: lower-alpha;"><br />
<li>Completed medical health forms</li><br />
<li>Actual date, month/day/year of immunization or titer for the following diseases or illnesses prior to admission:<br />
<ul><br />
<li><strong>PPD</strong> completed test for tuberculosis within 6 months prior to admission. The test is repeated and documented on an annual basis.</li><br />
<li><strong>RUBELLA</strong> (German measles) completed immunization or titer showing immunity; Documentation of immunization or a positive titer is needed.</li><br />
<li><strong>RUBEOLA</strong> (Red measles) Students must provide documentation of having received at least '''TWO''' immunizations unless born before 1957 or physician documentation of diagnosis of measles is provided.</li><br />
<li><strong>MUMPS</strong> Documentation of two immunizations and a positive titer is required.</li><br />
<li><strong>TETANUS, DIPTHERIA, PERTUSSIS</strong> Tetanus, diphtheria (Td) completed in last 10 years. One (1) Tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) booster dose is required as an adult. If the student has not had a booster in the last 2 years with the acellular pertussis component, then the Tdap is required.</li><br />
<li><strong>POLIO</strong> Indicate year of immunization.</li><br />
<li><strong>VARICELLA</strong> (Chicken Pox) Documentation of 2 immunizations or a positive titer.</li><br />
<li><strong>HEPATITIS B</strong> Documentation of immunization series of three completed and a positive titer.</li><br />
<li><strong>FLU IMMUNIZATION</strong> All students are required to have an annual flu immunization.<br />
<ul><br />
<li>Students admitted to the program for the summer semester are required to receive the flu immunization in the fall prior to matriculation.</li><br />
<li>Students admitted to the program for the fall semester are required to receive the flu immunization during the 1st vaccination period after matriculation.</li><br />
</ul><br />
</li><br />
<li><strong>MENINGOCOCCAL</strong> The College of Nursing recommends the meningococcal immunization.</li><br />
</ul><br />
</li><br />
<li>Submit Technical Standards worksheet.</li><br />
<li>Verification of current certification valid for the academic year in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for health professionals. This is defined as Basic Life Support for infant, child and adult one man/two man and AED training. Verification of current CPR must be documented annually through graduation.</li><br />
</ol><br />
</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">Students will <span style="text-decoration:underline;">not</span> be allowed to enroll in clinical nursing courses without meeting immunization and BLS requirements.</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">The complete mandatory UNMC background check is required prior to the first day of class.</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">Drug Screening Tests may be required prior to clinical placement at the discretion of the clinical agencies.</li><br />
<li style="margin-bottom:15px;">International professional nurses seeking admission into the RN to BSN Program will be evaluated on an individual basis including [[CON English as a Second Language - Undergraduate Students |Policy 5.2.5]], English as a Second Language-Undergraduate Students.</li><br />
