General Position Description:

All faculty assigned to a course are an integral part of the teaching team. Together with the semester and course coordinators each team member participates in the decision making process regarding the course. The team works together to facilitate the implementation of the course curriculum. All faculty on the team have input as to what supplies and resources are needed to assist students in meeting the course objectives. The team member reports to the Assistant Dean or Department Chairperson and other administrators as needed.

General areas of responsibility include participation in curriculum implementation and instruction, communication, evaluation and resource identification.

Curriculum and Instruction:

S/he is responsible to work closely with the course coordinator to provide smooth implementation of the course within the semester. The team member works with the course coordinator to identify specific teaching responsibilities and other activities within the course based on the expertise and interest of individual faculty. Responsibilities in a didactic course may include presenting classroom concepts with exemplars, posting of classroom materials on Blackboard, examination preparation, proctoring and grading of assignments. Responsibilities in a clinical course may include making student assignments, grading clinical paperwork, keeping current with the material presented in class including reinforcing concepts during the clinical experience and completing student evaluations. Team members may be asked to assist with other activities dealing with course implementation as the semester progresses.

Communication:

Each team member communicates in a manner that will facilitate information exchanges and promote a positive working environment within the course. S/he provides information regarding the curriculum, teaching and student issues to the course coordinator. The team member communicates regarding student’s progress in a clinical course to the course coordinator, semester coordinator and other administrators as needed. S/he attends semester or course meetings when planned.

Evaluation:

A team member works with the course coordinator to ensure that examinations are reliable and valid. For clinical courses s/he evaluates student’s clinical performance in a timely manner and works with the course coordinator in developing plans for improvement if warranted.

Resources:

The team member works with the course coordinator to identify necessary resources to effectively implement the course curriculum. S/he is responsible for learning and utilizing the current resources, including technology, available on each respective campus to promote student achievement of course outcomes.
