Purpose

Establishes the criteria for the loan of Learning Resource Center (LRC) and computer equipment.

Scope

This policy applies to all faculty, staff, and students with appropriate permission.

CON Loans

College of Nursing (CON) faculty, staff, and students will be given preference for the loan of any LRC and computer equipment that may be available.

LRC and equipment may be taken off campus by CON faculty, staff, or students for CON related activities.

LRC and computer equipment loaned for more than 30 days must be done in accordance with UNMC General Accounting Policy No: 3000.

UNMC Loans

CON equipment may be loaned to other UNMC faculty/staff and may be made available for use off campus.

Items may be loaned for up to one week. The college reserves the right to recall equipment if it is needed for student or faculty use.

Interagency Loans

Entities with Student Affiliation Agreements, Practice Agreements and Business Associate Agreements may borrow media and equipment from the CON if it is not scheduled for use within the CON.

Items may be loaned for up to one week. A fee may be assessed for loaned equipment. The college reserves the right to recall equipment if it is needed for student or faculty use.

Other Loans

Equipment may be used by outside agencies, organizations, groups or individuals if they are meeting within CON.

Equipment will not be loaned to non-university agencies or institutions for uses unrelated to CON programs or activities unless authorized by the Director, Administration & Operations or the appropriate division assistant dean. A fee may be assessed for use of loaned equipment.

The LRC staff on the division of the request must be contacted in advance of the requested pick-up time for loan of LRC equipment. Requests from non-UNMC individuals or agencies will be reviewed for approval and the individual/agency notified. Requests should include reason for and timeframe of loan. LRC staff will confirm the requested items are available and arrange for pick up and signing out of LRC equipment.

The workstation specialist or classroom technologist on the division of record must be contacted in advance of the requested pick-up time for computer equipment. Requests should include reason for and timeframe of loan. Workstation specialist or classroom technologist will confirm the requested items are available and arrange for pick up and signing out of computer equipment.

The individual borrowing the equipment assumes full responsibility for the items including loss, damage, or theft and signs a form acknowledging this responsibility.

Upon return of the items, the LRC staff, workstation specialist or classroom technologist is responsible for checking the items for needed repair or replacement and coordinating with the LRC Director or Director, Administration and Operations regarding costs to be charged as appropriate.
