General Position Description

The Director of Instructional Design and Technology provides instructional design, technology, and pedagogical leadership to ensure that best practices and quality standards guide curriculum development, design, and delivery of all courses in various course modalities (Classroom, Online, Hybrid learning). Plays an integral role in leading the College's efforts to integrate teaching and learning technologies across curricula, aligning these initiatives with the institution's strategic goals. Collaborates with academic programs leaders (deans and directors), instructional technologists support personnel, faculty, across and all divisions, CON LRC director, UNMC Stakeholders to promote pedagogical approaches and the use of technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR, learning analytics) that support excellence in education. Advances faculty development and professional development (e.g., e-learning, non-credit, micro-credentials), driving institutional change, and contributing to the colleges scholarly output in curricular innovation.

Organizational Relationships

The Director of Instructional Design and Technology reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs of the CON. This position provides supervision to instructional technology staff.

  • Engage in research and scholarly activities that contribute to the field (Nursing/Health professions) and educational innovation.
  • Publish findings, present at conferences, and actively participate in academic communities.

Teaching (20%)

  • Engage in teaching Health professions course
  • Engage in teaching nursing

Professional Service (10%)

  • Lead strategic communications with internal and external stakeholders regarding curriculum development projects, educational technology adoption, and faculty development initiatives.
  • Actively lead or participate in institutional committees and task forces, providing expert guidance on educational technology and instruction.
  • Participate in state, regional, or national professional organizations to serve and/or lead committees, task forces, etc.
