Purpose

Provides faculty members with the opportunity to file formal complaints or grievances related to interactions with other faculty members.

Scope

This policy applies to all CON faculty.

Policy

The College of Nursing (CON) is committed to providing all faculty with a work environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive of success in the mission areas. There are several mechanisms available to faculty depending on the nature of the complaint or grievance. CON faculty shall follow the College’s internal complaint process procedure (1309-PR Faculty Complaint, Grievance and Conflict Resolution Procedure) to resolve the complaint or grievance. Although this process may highlight faculty performance issues, it is not intended as a mechanism for supervisors to manage such matters.

If the College’s internal process does not resolve the complaint or grievance, faculty shall follow the UNMC process. The UNMC Faculty Conflict Resolution, Grievance, and Reporting Resources document provides a flow diagram and information for UNMC processes.
