Procedure

All newly proposed required or elective undergraduate courses must follow this process.

  1. Faculty members wishing to develop courses should consult first with their assistant dean regarding appropriateness and workload considerations. The following factors are considered in planning/offering nursing electives:
    1. student interest
    2. faculty interest, expertise, availability
    3. agency, preceptor availability
    4. classroom, laboratory availability
    5. cost-effectiveness
    6. minimum & maximum enrollments will be established based on factors a through e above.
  2. Faculty members then meet with the Undergraduate Affairs Committee to present ideas for course development. If needed, a member of the Undergraduate Affairs Committee will be appointed to assist the faculty in course development.
  3. Course proposals are to be prepared using the form provided in 1402-Form - New Undergraduate Course Proposal.
  4. The course proposal should be submitted to the Undergraduate Affairs Committee (UAC) for approval. A member of the course proposal group should be present at the Undergraduate Affairs Committee meeting when the course is approved. Chair of the UAC and a member of the course proposal group will present the new course at the General Faculty Organization meeting for approval.
  5. After each new course has been taught, an evaluation must be submitted through the course evaluation software.
