Purpose

The purpose of this committee is to promote the ethical, effective, and strategic management of processes for data collection, reporting, and evaluation across the UNMC College of Nursing. The committee fosters a culture of continuous improvement and transparency by supporting data governance, standardized methodologies, evidence-informed decision-making, and process improvement.

Functions

Process, Data, and Analysis

  • Facilitate and support the development, documentation, and use of standardized evaluation and analysis processes (e.g., methodologies, workflows, timelines, and SOPs) in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Coach and partner with programs and units to design and implement continuous improvement approaches (e.g., flowcharts, Plan–Do–Study–Act cycles) aligned with programmatic, operational, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify and advance data stewardship roles and shared responsibilities for evaluation, reporting, and analysis.
  • Guide and support the development and consistent use of data specifications (e.g., variable definitions and data requirements) across teams.
  • Advise and consult on regulatory considerations and constraints related to data collection, aggregation, analysis, and use, promoting compliance through shared understanding.
  • Promote and enable alignment and integration of data processes across systems in partnership with college units.
  • Provide input and consultation on budgetary needs related to data systems, software, and tools in collaboration with relevant leaders and teams.

Outcomes, Reporting, and Improvement

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and leadership to co-develop and refine reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Facilitate consensus-building around key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and expected outcomes for internal and external audiences.
  • Partner with committees and leadership to interpret evaluation findings and apply results to decision-making and improvement efforts.
  • Support and coach units in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives informed by data.
  • Facilitate the development and refinement of data governance guidelines and recommend policy enhancements in collaboration with college stakeholders.

Membership

  • Chaired by the Assistant Dean for Evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Members include:
    • Assistant Dean of Finance and Operations
    • Assistant Dean, Enrollment Management and Student Success
    • Evaluation Team Database Administrator I
    • Evaluation Team Business Operations Associate
    • GFO Chair (past or present)
    • Division Assistant Dean
    • Curriculum Committee Chair (past or present)
    • Academic Programs Administrator (or representative)
    • Interested faculty, staff, and/or student members
    • Ad hoc members may be included as needed based on committee work

Guidelines

  • Meets once each academic term (e.g. spring, summer, and fall). Additional meetings may be called at the discretion of the chair
  • Collaborates with the UNMC College of Nursing curriculum committees to interpret results, implement changes, and evaluate outcomes
