Purpose
Establishes criteria for compliance with graduate program requirements for the PhD program.
Scope
This policy applies to PhD students.
Policy
- The student must meet professional behavior requirements outlined in the UNMC Graduate Studies Bulletin.
- Upon admission to the PhD in Nursing Program and on December 1 of each year, the graduate student must provide evidence according to the UNMC Student handbook of:
- Health Information Privacy and Protection Act (HIPAA) training.
- Blood-Borne Pathogens training.
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- Current Hepatitis B immunization and/or a reactive Hepatitis B titer.
- Annual completion of a test for tuberculosis.
- Annual flu immunization.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Health Care Providers certificate that will remain current through each semester the student is enrolled.
- Background check.
- Drug screening when required by clinical agency.
- Failure to provide appropriate documentation of all items above will result in the student being dropped from all nursing course(s) at the beginning of the spring semester and will not be allowed to attend classes or clinical. All expenses will be incurred by the student. The student may be allowed to progress when the course is next offered as space is available and compliance established.
- Students are obligated to notify the College of Nursing immediately if any action is taken against their professional licenses.
