General Position Description
The Director of the Undergraduate Program is the academic administrative officer responsible for all undergraduate options in the College. The Program Director ensures that the standards and policies of the College and the University are met and that the program achieves the highest standards for undergraduate education outlined by the State Board of Nursing and other national bodies in nursing education. The director is responsible for facilitating the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate education in the College.

Organizational Relationships
The Director of Undergraduate Programs reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. The Director collaborates with division assistant deans and faculty to coordinate course offerings and program improvement and serves on the Undergraduate Committee. The director works closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and other Program Directors to facilitate efficient and coordinated use of resources. The Director collaborates all interrelated positions as reflected in the UNMC CON Organizational Structure.
Responsibilities of the Position
- Participates with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, other administrators, and faculty in strategic planning for undergraduate programs.
- Provides leadership for the ongoing review of the College’s strategic plan for the undergraduate program.
- Coordinates, in collaboration with appropriate others, the systems for managing undergraduate course offerings, class schedules, clinical teaching sites, and other undergraduate experiences.
- Participates in and reviews the faculty’s recommendations for course, curricula and program changes, coordinates proposal development, and forwards proposals to the appropriate review bodies for approval.
- Acts as a resource to undergraduate faculty on all divisions.
- Assists with baccalaureate student recruitment, admissions, advising, and financial aid.
- Participates with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs in seeking and implementing training grants.
- Collects and analyzes data to evaluate the quality, effectiveness and compliance of the undergraduate program and to ensure that the policies and standards of the College and accrediting bodies are met.
- Monitors application, admission, matriculation, progression, and graduation patterns of undergraduate students.
- Facilitates academic services to undergraduate students.
- Manages undergraduate program budgets, as delegated by the Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
- Collaborates with Director of Clinical Placement to oversee clinical requests while participatihng in implementation of agency contract requirements and evaluation of clinical placements.
- Participates in activities to develop a strong network with clinical partners and maintain open communication while assuring that workforce needs are being addressed.
- Gives suggestions as appropriate to division assistant deans regarding undergraduate teaching assignments.
- Assists with progression review and other policies related to student progression and graduation.
- Serves as a procedural consultant on the Undergraduate Academic Review Committee; advises the Undergraduate Academic Review Committee to assure that the appropriate procedures associated with student grade appeal and disciplinary action policies of the CON and the University are implemented.
- Serves as the UNMC CON Undergraduate Conduct Officer.
- Promotes appropriate and standardized learning activities for students on all CON divisions.
- Travels to all CON divisions on a regular basis to collaborate with faculty and gather input from undergraduate students.
- Oversees RN to BSN Coordinator and Accelerated BSN Coordinator.
- Engages in an active program of scholarship.
- Other duties as assigned.
Appointment Requirements
- A bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field.
- Experience in undergraduate teaching and curriculum development.
- Evidence of academic scholarship.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, managerial skills, creativity, ability to make timely decisions, to collaborative effectively, and to be open to the ideas of others and to constructive feedback.
- Eligible for rank of Associate or Full Professor, preferred.
