General Position Description

While maintaining the integrity of the concept-based curriculum and ensuring inclusion of active learning strategies, the undergraduate cross campus coordinator is responsible for maintaining the assigned course generic syllabus, collecting basic outcomes data, and collaborating with course faculty to assure course consistency across all divisions (Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Western and Northern) (see 4.4.3 Syllabus Format and Appendix X Syllabus Templates). This responsibility is an opportunity for professional growth and development of leadership skills. This person should have experience teaching the assigned course. Ideally, all divisions will be represented across the four semesters in the undergraduate cross campus coordinator role roster. The position is designated by the assistant dean group. The assistant dean or designee will notify the chosen cross campus course coordinator at least two weeks before the start of the term, but preferably the semester before the course is delivered. General areas of responsibility include coordination of course curricula implementation and instructional methods, communication, evaluation, and resource identification for budget needs.

Curriculum and Instruction

Expectations for this role include:

  • Calls a minimum of two meetings/year (before and after the course is taught) of undergraduate course coordinators and other interested faculty team members.
  • Sets an agenda for biannual meetings after gathering input from all undergraduate course campus coordinators.
  • Solicits issues/concerns as well as highlights of successful strategies to the group meeting from the course coordinators.
  • Reviews generic syllabus and brings proposed changes to the group.
  • Facilitates discussion among the group pertaining to revisions to the generic syllabus as well as to the course are discussed openly and the group votes, with majority ruling, on any proposed changes.
  • Submits the generic syllabus to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner and assures that the updated generic syllabus is completed by the set deadline.
  • Discusses basic course outcomes data with the group to include course pass rates and student success on signature assignments.
  • Manages course exam test banks and facilitates this process with a subgroup of faculty assigned to this course.

Communication

The role of the undergraduate cross campus coordinator is to gather data from all five divisions, set agendas for meetings, lead meetings, ensure that minutes are taken, submit revised generic syllabus, solicit basic course outcome data from the undergraudate campus cours coordinators, and oversee the course test bank process. The undergraduate cross campus coordinator attends meetings called by the Director of Undergraduate Program as appropriate.

Evaluation

The cross campus coordinator works in collaboration with the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and Director for Undergraduate Programs.

Resources

The undergraduate cross campus coordinator works with the undergraduate course coordinators to effectively implement the curriculum and provides input as needed.
