CON Integrity in Academic Work: Difference between revisions

<p style="max-width:70em !important; margin-bottom:15px;">If a student is unsure whether his or her action(s) constitute a violation of the Code of Academic Integrity, then it is that student’s responsibility to consult with the faculty to clarify any ambiguities. If the student has any doubts about the way references or resources should be cited, talk to the faculty as soon as possible.</p>

    <li style="margin-bottom:10px;">Verbatim plagiarism - content is copied exactly as it is written without any form of credit or citation.</li>

    <li style="margin-bottom:10px;>Mosaic plagiarism - copying content from different websites or sources and combining them without any form of credit or citation.</li>

    <li style="margin-bottom:10px;>Global plagiarism - claiming someone else’s entire work as your own.</li>

    <li style="margin-bottom:10px;>Self plagiarism - Resubmission of your own work when you’ve already used it. It is also known as auto plagiarism.</li>

    <li style="margin-bottom:10px;>Accidental plagiarism - Unintentional plagiarism caused by paraphrasing content and failing to cite or add credits to author.</li>

     <li style="margin-bottom:10px;">1st assignment occurrence within the program – written warning and education (redo modules), redo assignment with reduced grade of 10% for the plagiarism plus additional reduction for not meeting rubric requirements, referral to academic coach and documentation in student tracking system. (Share with appropriate program director).</li>

     <li style="margin-bottom:10px;">2nd assignment occurrence within the program - written warning and education (redo modules), 50% automatically reduced for the plagiarism plus additional reduction for not meeting rubric requirements; Referral for Director of program (Code of conduct officer) and further documentation in student tracking system.</li>

     <li style="margin-bottom:10px;">3rd assignment occurrence within the program- Failure of the course – Referral for code of conduct and program director.</li>

<p style="max-width:70em !important; margin-bottom:15px;">If the student feels that the decision regarding the charges of plagiarism is arbitrary or capricious, they can appeal the decision through the disciplinary appeals process in Policy 5.1.14. The results of the appeal shall be entered into student tracking system in the student’s record.</p>
