Section 4.0 - Position Description Originating Date: May 2016
Responsible Reviewing Agency:
Undergraduate Curriculum Committee
Executive Council

General Position Description:

While maintaining the integrity of the concept-based curriculum and ensuring inclusion of active learning strategies, the undergraduate cross campus coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring that the assigned course generic syllabus is the same across all five (Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Western and Northern) divisions (see Syllabus Format subsection 4.3.3—Appendix X). This responsibility is an opportunity for professional growth and development of leadership skills. This person should have experience teaching in the particular course. Ideally, all divisions will be represented across the four semesters in the cross campus coordinator role roster. General areas of responsibility include coordination of course curricula implementation and instructional methods, communication, evaluation, and resource identification for budget needs.

Curriculum and Instruction:

The undergraduate cross campus coordinator calls a minimum of two meetings/year (before and after the course is taught) of undergraduate course coordinators and other interested faculty team members. An agenda is set with input from all undergraduate course campus coordinators. All coordinators are able to discuss any issues/concerns as well positive teaching strategies with the group. In addition, the generic syllabus must be reviewed and changes made as needed to that syllabus. All revisions to the generic syllabus as well as to the course are discussed openly and the group agrees on any changes. The generic syllabus must be submitted to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner. The cross campus coordinator communicates with the staff member to ensure that the updated syllabus is completed by the set deadline.

Communication:

The role of the undergraduate cross campus coordinator is to gather data from all five divisions for agendas for meetings, lead meetings, ensure that minutes are taken, and submit revised generic syllabus. The cross campus coordinator attends meetings called by the undergraduate program director as appropriate.

Evaluation:

The undergraduate semester coordinator works with course coordinators to ensure that examinations are reliable and valid, and serves as a resource in planning remediation for individual students as needed. The semester coordinator reviews the student’s academic or clinical performance as requested by the course coordinator, team member and/or student. The undergraduate semester coordinator may provide academic counseling to students as requested by the course coordinator, team member and/or student. After collaborating with the course coordinator, the semester coordinator may refer students to other available and appropriate resources for counseling. The undergraduate semester coordinator works in collaboration with the assistant dean, student services coordinator and the undergraduate program director. S/he is available to meet with students who have overall semester curricular concerns, and refers them to appropriate administrators as necessary. In collaboration with the course coordinator, the undergraduate semester coordinator ensures that agency clinical evaluations are completed and submitted to the undergraduate program director or designated staff member within the time-frame provided.

Resources:

The undergraduate semester coordinator works with course coordinators to identify necessary faculty and material resources needed to effectively implement the curriculum, and notifies appropriate administrators.
